# 010 — Goals and player specification

## Approved experience

The game is a concise interactive retelling of the selected work. It asks what actually happens in that story, not what the player would prefer to happen. Every answer leads back to the same canonical plot. The player never creates an alternative branch.

The scene may follow the protagonist, another character, or an event. Use the viewpoint that fits the work; do not force every question into a protagonist decision.

| Difficulty | Questions | Content |
|---|---:|---|
| Easy | 10 | Major, recognizable plot events |
| Medium | 15 | Major events plus meaningful intermediate steps |
| Hard | 20 | Finer plot details and plausible distractors |

Every difficulty covers the beginning through the actual ending. Hard is not an excuse for trivia about actors, awards, directors, production, release dates, or unrelated installments.

## Selected subject

Use the same title/episode selection and launch contexts as Milionář. Preserve the exact scope already supplied by the caller: a film, a whole series, or a specific episode. Preserve a season scope if a current caller actually identifies one; do not add a new season selector or infer a season from incomplete metadata.

Presentation order is the order in which the work reveals events to the audience, including flashbacks and withheld information. It is not an automatically sorted fictional chronology. Stay inside the selected film, series, season if explicitly selected, or episode; no sequel/prequel/book/adaptation contamination.

Persons and mixed-title topics remain Millionaire-only. An ongoing series covers its known released story and stops at the known endpoint; do not invent a future finale or imply the series has finished. This is an implementation interpretation of the scope rule, not a new browsing feature.

## Complete interaction

1. An existing game entry opens the existing modern title card for its subject.
2. The title card offers Milionář / Příběh and restores the last chosen eligible mode.
3. Story shows its own saved difficulty, question count, three lives, five chapters, rules, and Start action.
4. Start prepares the entire pack. The existing loading treatment displays the localized equivalent of “Preparing the story…”. No scene becomes playable before the full pack is validated.
5. A scene shows one or two short narration sentences, a concrete plot question, and four A–D answers.
6. A single answer evaluates immediately, without Millionaire's countdown or a feedback inference. Reveal the correct event, highlight the selection/result, and deduct one life on error.
7. The player reads at their own pace and presses Continue. Nothing advances automatically, and Continue has no artificial timer or TTS completion gate.
8. With at least one life left, advance to the next scene. After the final scene, show a brief canonical closing paragraph and results.
9. At zero lives, show the current event and the defeat summary; do not reveal subsequent scenes or the closing paragraph.
10. Play again creates a new AI pack. Demo replay uses the same authored pack. Exit discards the active pack.

## Lives and terminal precedence

- Start with exactly three lives on every new attempt, including replay.
- Correct answer: lives unchanged; correct counter increments.
- Wrong answer: exactly one life removed; answered/progress counter still increments.
- Questions never repeat merely because the player was wrong. There is no retry of the same answer.
- Third wrong answer ends the attempt, even on the final question. Zero lives takes precedence over reaching the final scene.
- Finishing with one or two mistakes still completes the story. There is no requirement for a perfect score.
- A malformed pack, provider failure, cancellation, double click, or wrong button while a result is open never costs a life.

## Progress and results

Five generic spoiler-free chapters replace the money ladder: Beginning, Development, Turning point, Climax, Ending. Localize these labels; the Czech product wording can use “Začátek / Rozjezd / Zlom / Vyvrcholení / Závěr”. Each difficulty assigns respectively 2, 3, or 4 questions to each chapter. The pack must distribute meaningful plot coverage accordingly rather than fill a quota with repetition.

Checkpoints are visual landmarks only: no restored lives, saved games, retries, or bonuses. Track answered scenes separately from correct answers. A wrong answer consumes progress because the real event has been revealed.

Results show correct/answered count, reached chapter, overall story progress, and remaining lives. A stopped attempt may display “4 correct of 7 answered; 7 of 15 scenes reached” rather than conflate 4 correct answers with 4 scenes traversed. No money, XP, badges, or score bonuses.

## Narration and voice

Use one consistent concise narrator, similar to reading a short book. No presenter banter, congratulations monologues, audience talk, round announcements in prose, or artificial tension. Narration contains only context available at that point. The answer and revelation are hidden until evaluation; later plot details stay hidden until reached.

Reuse the existing TTS settings/providers when voice is enabled. Text-only is the default test path. Do not enable or rewrite the user's voice preferences. Existing autoscroll is a fallback for narration; readable concise text is the primary design requirement.

## Explicit exclusions

No online research in the initial game, no fact-checking API, no new title picker, no alternative story, no lifelines, no automatic play for Story, no saved attempts, no generated-pack cache/history, no copy of the old text adventure, and no broad Millionaire refactor. Online grounding is documented as a future option in `060-prompts-and-ai.md`.
